Skinny Girl Swimsuits

2011/09/23

Cut out swimsuit - juniorsThe majority seem to focus on larger or plus size ladies when consulting swimsuit sizes. Commonly, swimsuit designers struggle with areas like the tummy, derriere and legs. However,  there are other problems that should be acknowledged when it comes to the correct fit, and that is the fit for ladies who might be thinner than the average. Contrary to popular belief it can be just as challenging to find a swimsuit for a very thin person. Typically the issues are fitting the derriere, having the proper fit around the legs and even bust.  Though many women would rather have this issue of being too thin seemingly, it can actually be more frustrating than looking for plus sizes.

If you find yourself in the too thin category and need some swimsuits to put you out of your shopping misery check out these great styles from World Swimwear. They have junior sizes but in sexy styles to fit all age groups. My favorite is the pucker butt (makes your butt look great)  monokini with fringes called Beautiful Island.Monokini

Caring For Your Swimsuit

2011/08/08

Swimsuits can take a lot of abuse with chlorinated water, sand and even salt water; however, you can lessen the damage and lengthen the life of your swimsuit by following some basic care practices.

NEVER put your swimsuit in the washing machine or any mechanical device. If you accidentally wash your swimsuit in the washing machine it will not destroy it, but continuously doing so will shorten the life of your swimsuit.  One cycle in the dryer and your swimsuit will probably not last the entire summer.

Most swimsuits are made of Lycra or Spandex material. These materials are not very durable, therefore, they must be cared for gently. It does not matter about the price of the swimsuit because it is the material that predicts the life of the swimsuit. Yes, there are different grades of Lycra and Spandex, so if the designer used quality Lycra, then your suit will probably last a bit longer than a cheaper grade of Lycra (two to three seasons if used frequently in pools).

Best form of care to keep your favorite swimsuits looking like new.

Hand wash your swimsuits in mild detergent like Woolite. Swimsuits should not need a vigorous wash, so a ten minute soak with a couple of back and forth movements before completing the wash should do it.  Rinse with cool to warm water. Do not ring or twist your swimsuit, simply fold your wet swimsuit, place it into a dry towel and apply pressure (stand on the towel or use your hands to apply the pressure). Remove the swimsuit and hang it to dry (not in the sun).

Following these simple care instructions should keep your swimsuits looking like new for a long time. For best results rotate your swimsuits.

Swimwear Types, Shopping and Care Tips

2011/07/17

Swimsuits make us confront our bodily imperfections and can be a pain to shop for. Maybe that’s why a recent poll by the Consumer Reports National Research Center found that 61 percent of women do their swimsuit shopping alone.
Depressing, right? It doesn’t have to be.  WorldSwimwear.com is so excited about all the swimsuit-shopping advice to their customers that they issued not one but two press releases about it.
“We all know bathing suit shopping can be a nightmare.” “But we learned that if you do your research and know what works for you – it might actually be enjoyable.”
Their website has no more than a page of the article, but their tips are gathered here. So if you’re ready to actually enjoy your next swimsuit shopping trip – and save on your next swimsuit – here’s how…

Don’t settle for poor quality
Between salt water, chlorine, and sunshine, swimsuits take a beating that our ordinary clothes don’t, so it’s critical that you find a well-made suit and take care of it. World Swimwear says a quality suit should last up to two years if you rotate it with others, and that you can get even more life out of it if you always rinse it after wearing it and hand wash it. (As someone who lives in Southern California and frequents the beach, I think that’s actually a conservative number – I’ve been wearing my favorite swimsuit for years.)
And if that’s not enough reason for you to bother to find a well-made suit, consider World Swimwear’s second point about quality: “A cheaply made swimsuit or one that’s poorly designed can make you look bigger or older than you really are.” So keep an eye out for…
• Zig-zag stitching: You need it to stretch! Chain stitching will more easily unravel and indicates subpar quality.
• Straps that don’t dig: Your straps should never cut into your shoulders or back.
• Nylon and spandex fabric: These are the types of fabrics to go for. Avoid polyester blends and any suit that is flimsy or sheer.
• Four-way stretch: This test will help you see if the suit will withstand the damage that pool chemicals can cause. Stretch the fabric in one direction; if you see a lot of white fibers, the fabric will probably deteriorate quickly.
• Full lining: The lining should be attached around the whole perimeter of the suit, not hanging loose in places.
• Seemingly seamless structure: Good-quality suits are intricately constructed within while appearing seamless on the outside. Avoid loose threads, lining, and pads, and sloppy stitching.
• A good built-in bra: It should fit as well as a real bra.
• Sturdy hardware: Plastic accents are more likely to break than metal ones. And watch out! Metal rings and buckles can get hot in the sun.

Flatter your body type
Like clothing, certain swimsuit cuts and styles, well, suit certain body shapes better than others. For the most flattering fit, World Swimwear suggests…
• Apple/inverted triangle (broad shoulders, undefined waist): Look for a suit with wide straps, as this will help to narrow your upper body.
• Pear (narrow chest and shoulders, wider lower half): Make your upper body stand out with ruffles, patterns, or unique necklines. You can also minimize hips and thighs by wearing a modest boy short or high-wasted brief. Also, higher-cut leg openings will make your legs appear longer.
• Hourglass (equal size bust and hips, narrow waste): Find a suit that shows off your proportions. This could be a triangle-top bikini or a bandeau top and hipster bottoms.
• Straight (narrow from top to bottom): Look for a two-piece with a halter, V-neck, or scoop neck. If it’s a one-piece you’re after, try one with large blocks of color to break up a long torso.
Ensure a great fit
Swimsuit shopping can be a pain, but if you want to love how you look at the pool or beach, it’s worth taking your time at the store…
• Take your measurements. To make sure you get the right size, measure your bust, waist, and hips. Then check the swimsuits’ size charts. Measure your torso length, too; some styles are longer.
• Try it on. Sizing is rarely consistent among brands, so try on every suit before you buy it . When you’re trying on a one-piece, the rear shouldn’t ride up and the top shouldn’t squish your chest – those are signs that the suit is too short. If your cheeks pop out of the rear, the suit is too small. If material bunches around your backside, the suit is too big. Move and bend to be sure you’re comfy and the suit stays put.
• Don’t settle. If a suit pulls or you bulge out of it, put it back on the rack! If you need a specialty suit, plenty are available.

Find the best deal
Swimsuit season may be half over, but that makes mid-summer a great time to find a deal on swimsuits. Stores don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of summer staples when the season ends, which is probably why swimsuits are currently on sale.
The Consumer Reports National Research Center found that 27 percent of women have tried to shop online. But if you prefer to shop in stores, just remember that not all online sales are available in stores (and vice versa), so call ahead to your local store before you waste gas. If you shop online, make sure there is a return policy, like World Swimwear has, so that you are not stuck with a non flattering swimsuit.

Teens and Womens Swimwear and Cover Ups

2011/06/27

Teen swimwear is available at World Swimwear. They have some styles that run rather small which is perfect for ladies with smaller chest or when looking for Junior sizes. The latest styles for Juniors is not much different for Women’s. The Monokini is definitely on the short list. Bandeau’s, strapless and boyshorts are also hot this season.

Women’s Swimwear styles are very straight forward this season. Monokini’s, Sexy Tankini’s and Strapless styles are on the short list. It is more about prints for the age range of 20, 30 and 40 something. Animal prints, ethnic prints and dark solids like Purple, Red and Black are very popular with great reasons. These prints are sexy, bold and beautiful.

Cover Ups are for all ages… Teens/Juniors seem to be opting for the shorter cover ups and shorts. We have noticed the trend for Womens cover ups seems to be the Maxi dress this season. These long, sexy dresses with bold animal and ethnic prints are a true hit for at the beach or around town on a hot summer day.

Both Teens/Juniors and Womens Cover ups look great in bright bold colors, like Yellow, Fuchsia, Orange and Turquoise. Remember to get bold colors that best match your skin complexion. If you are pale with lighter hair (Red, Auburn or Light Brown) Yellow or Orange is a great match. If you are pale with dark hair (Black or Dark Brown) try a Red or Orange. Pale with Blonde hair should go for the Turquoise. If you are tan you can pretty much get away with any of the bolder colors. Tan skin looks effortlessly great in those bold bright summer colors.

Plus Size vs. Thin – Swimsuit Styles

2011/06/20

What are the things women should consider when buying a swimsuit?
Fit. They should think about good fit. Does it support well? Is it comfortable? Is there enough coverage or as little as desired? Does it make my back look as good as the front?

What should a thin woman look for in a swimsuit? A plus size? Top heavy? Bottom heavy?
A thin figure is one without curves and therefore the right swimsuit for a thin frame is one that will add volume to your shape. Ruffles, hip ties, breast padding, cutouts that create an optical illusion of curves and ruching are good examples.
For plus size women, it’s all about playing up your assets, making the waist appear slimmer and minimizing the flaws. A one piece suit that draws the waist in or has cut outs that give the optical illusion of a slimmer waist is a good option as plus size suits need not be boring and black all the time.
For bottom-heavy women, the more fabric your swimsuit bottom has, the bigger your bottom will look. A swimsuit in a solid color that has a clean-cut bottom portion is slimming. Avoid busy prints, detailing and excess fabric on the bottom area and bring the focus more on the top.
Top-heavy women have great cleavage and therefore should flaunt that asset. A good one piece with a plunging neckline can be very flattering as well as a bikini with a halter-top with thick straps to give good support.

Hollywood Swimsuits 2011

2011/04/06

Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child,  frolic in the sunny warmth of Miami.

Many people have their own style, but still like to see what the celebrities are wearing. Lets face it,  major name celebrities have easy access to some of the hottest designers, travel all around the globe and can shop with limitless budgets.  Add on to the fact that they get many freebies. New and upcoming designers also try to get celebs to wear their gear to help with branding.  So it is actually a good idea to check out what some of your favorite celebrities are wearing.

Kelly Rowland was spotted on the beach wearing this lime and black two piece. The top is a strapless bandeau, the bottom is banded with moderate coverage.  Bandeau tops are sexy and can bring a more bustier look to a smaller chest. Things to watch for when purchasing a bandeau if strapless beware of a lack of support. A bandeau can continue to fall or slip down. It is best to purchase a bandeau with a hook on the back, not a tie. It is also great to have a string around the neck option.

Some beaches and pool areas are just so crowded you feel a little weird not wearing a cover up.  No matter how much you may love your figure, sometimes it is just best to hold off on showing it all off in your perfect swimsuit. In these occasions you need a perfect cover up. See through cover ups are really good to wear while on the beach or at a pool party. Halle Berry was spotted in a sexy cover up, and has no problem showing the world how it is done correctly while in sunny California.

Miami Real housewife Christy, the Cuban cutie is strutting her stuff in sunny Miami. She is wearing a triangle top bikini with low scoop bottoms. Her suit does have some texture to it. Red is such a great color these days for swimsuits.

Swimsuit Types

2011/04/01

You can not change the shape that you were born with. You can lose or gain weight and build muscle, but there is no changing your natural shape without taking drastic steps. This is why it is so important to know the styles and types of swimsuits that are out there on the market. Different types of swimsuits offer different types of coverage, fit and overall look.

The most common swimsuits on the market today come in many variations, which is good for people who have issues like bigger or smaller than average chest or buttocks. If you fall into this category then you should really pay close attention to swimsuit cuts. The way you look in your swimsuit and the way that it fits is all part of the cut and design of the swimsuit. No matter how cute a swimsuit is, if it does not fit correctly then you need to walk away from it.

The above pictured swimsuits “Happiness Bikini” from World Swimwear is a great cut for ladies with a larger or smaller chest because of the support that is gives. If you are smaller it can create an illusion that you have more because of the ruffles. However, if you are larger, you will be well supported with the back hook and adjustable neck string (this can be removed).

The above Tankini swimsuit from World Swimwear “Chi Chi” is great for a modest type of person or for covering tummy flaws.

Bandeau tops pictured below are said to be a good choice for a smaller chest. Personally, I think it just depends on the make and design of the bandeau top. The bandeau tops sold at World Swimwear have removable padding and back hooks making them a great choice for a smaller chest. If you have a very small chest and is considering a bandeau top, I would recommend you to seek tops with padding and hooks. Otherwise, you risk your smaller breast looking saggy and more tiny. The hooks give a secure fit and offers better support for a bandeau than string tops around the back. Also, having the option of a tie around the neck is a plus.  These beautiful bandeau’s are “Abyss” and “Bandeau Glam” from World Swimwear.

Monokini’s shown below are great for all body types. They also are useful for covering surgery scars on the tummy area. World Swimwear sells many styles and cuts of the monokini. Halter tops are great for larger or smaller chest. Triangle tops are best for smaller to mid size chest because the strings around the neck and back area are thinner giving less support. You can also find embroidered and unique adorned monokinis at World Swimwear.

World Swimwear has a wide selection of quality monokini’s for all different taste. Click here to see all of the monokini’s listed here and more.  http://www.worldswimwear.com/servlet/the-Monokini-Cut-dsh-out-Swimsuits/Categories

This style below is rather new and is taking on the swimsuit scene rapidly. This style mostly come in Brazilian cut, but can also be found in modest coverage. World Swimwear has moderate coverage monokinis in this style along with Brazilian cut. This style has several names; ruched, seamed and pucker. I am sure there are more names out there for this style, but these are the most commonly used when describing the seamed bottoms. This style is one of my favorites because it really can eliminate sagging bottoms if worn correctly (get the right size).

Cute Cheap Swimsuits

2011/03/25

Cheap swimsuits can be stylish, in season and made with some quality. In many cases stores just want to get rid of items to make room for more, or the item has limited sizes. Whatever the reason there is no reason to feel that you are getting a bad swimsuit or a less flattering piece just because you paid little money for it.

Many stores are offering good deals because of the economy. Having items already priced low and then have those items go on sale makes for a great bargaining deal. Items listed here are all priced under $30.00. Many of these swimsuits are priced as low as $12.00 and made in the USA or Korea.  Shop now at www.Worldswimwear.com
